Romance novels and rom coms have done a stellar job in setting up expectations for wedding nights. These brides lift the lid on what really happens.
If we go by what we see at the movies, the newly wedded bride and groom go to their hotel suite, pop a bottle of champagne and spend the rest of the night between the sheets.
But a group of actual newlyweds have given the world a reality check — and confirmed why Hollywood is so out of touch, especially when it comes to the first night as husband and wife.
Couples have taken to anonymous confessions site Whisper to reveal exactly what — if anything — happened on their wedding night. In look, it’s not exactly what you’d imagine.
From a bride pretending she’d fallen asleep, to another crying into her pillow following a post-reception argument. The night of the big day isn’t always as magical as the movies make out.
“My husband wanted sex on our wedding night. I rejected him,” one woman revealed.
“On my wedding night, my husband got sloppy drunk, started a fight between our families, then fought with me. I cried myself to sleep,” another added.
While sex as husband and wife wasn’t on the menu for many of the couples, one newlywed admitted that the night called for a threesome — which included her best friend.
“My husband and I had a threesome with my best friend on our wedding night. It was awesome,” she said.
“On my wedding night my husband went home with his guy friends to play video games instead of coming home with me. I had to cut my corset off and rip my dress cuz (sic) I had no help,” another added.
Another bride admitted that instead of a romantic hotel room, she slept in a carpark with her new husband.
“On my wedding night we slept in a Walmart parking lot after getting married secretly. Not exactly the wedding night I had in mind,” she wrote.
But hey, it’s better than what this woman did on her first night of marriage.
“My husband left me and our baby alone in a hotel room on our wedding night to go to a strip club,” she wrote.
But this isn’t the first time brides with a story to tell about their wedding day have flocked to Whisper to share a story or two.
Earlier this year, women took to the site and confessed the biggest fails of the day.
“My mother-in-law insulted my dress on my wedding day,” one woman wrote.
“My wedding was today. My husband fell over and split his head open so we’re in the ET getting him stitches. I’m still in my wedding dress,” another confessed.
